Maine Black Bear Trapping

Trapping bears is legal in Maine. The only two types of traps that are legal is the leg snare and a cage live trap. We’re allowed to harvest a second bear if it’s by trapping. You will arrive at camp on Sunday afternoon. Monday morning, we’ll go to the bait site and the trapper will set the snare, which will be checked first thing in the morning through Saturday morning. You're more than welcome to use your snare or ours. The American Plan bear trapping includes food, lodging, game retrieval, transportation to and from the bait site, transportation to the tagging station and the butcher. 

When you walk down into the site and hear a bear growling, that gets the old heart pumping. That’s quite an adrenaline rush and quite the experience, one that you never will forget.
